At Green Core Electric we are deeply concerned about climate change and the many health, social, and environmental problems stemming from the use of coal, nuclear, and natural gas energy. Our business was founded to significantly reduce these impacts on our communities and the planet for today and generations to come.

In simply providing a clean and renewable energy option, we have found an expansive community of individuals and businesses that share these values and take action to make the world a better place. Our Beginnings
Our founder and CEO, Ian Nienhueser, worked for several years as an environmental engineer with a team of dedicated professionals in determining the health risk posed by the radionuclide contamination resulting from the decades of nuclear bomb testing that had previously occurred at the Nevada Test Site.

​While this was valuable and fascinating work, he felt a deep concern for the even larger challenges that face the human race and our planet. He knew he needed to do something to address climate change and the many human and environmental health problems that stem from our use of energy generated from coal, nuclear and natural gas.

After some soul-searching, he quit his job and pursued a second Masters in renewable energy at Arizona State University, where he was introduced to the process of how renewable energy is bought and sold in the U.S. and around the world. It quickly became clear that this robust system made it simple for anyone to power their home or business with renewable energy, while supporting the further development of wind farms and solar fields and that many large organizations such as Google, Whole Foods and IBM were already getting renewable energy from this system.

Even more interesting, we learned that the vast majority of people do not know they can do this!

We listened to communities voice concern about the environment and wanting to do something about it. We understood the difficulties that most people face (not owning their own home, up front costs, and long term contracts to name a few) for installing solar, which is the solution most people consider when striving to eliminate the environmental impact of their energy use.

However, we also understood that if concerned people knew that they could simply buy clean, renewable energy generated by U.S. wind farms to power their home or business (without restrictions or investment) they would make the switch and together we could make a real and significant difference.

So, with the help of many, we started a business that makes it simple to do just that.

Green Core Electric is a rapidly growing company that provides clean, renewable energy service to homes, apartments and businesses all across the U.S. Our community of customers is an ardent group of concerned citizens making a significant impact on protecting the health of our communities and our planet. We have opened a new office in Tempe, AZ to keep up with this rapid expansion.
