What does the 3 month trial entail?

With Green Core Electric your home or business will be powered by 100% renewable, wind energy from U.S. wind farms for three months at the same price you pay with your current electric utility company. You will receive a single monthly bill energy bill from Green Core Electric.

How much does this service cost?

After your free 3 month trial, there is a nominal price premium of 1.5 cents per kWh which supports the growth of renewable energy in the U.S. For our average customer, this amount works out to about $9 per month. Most of us spend that amount on a few cups of coffee! Not a bad price for an investment in the health of our communities and our planet, right? And you'll know you are supporting the growth of renewable energy in the U.S.

How does billing work?

Your current utility company’s infrastructure delivers power to your home or business and that will stay the same. Our system uses your utility’s online account to track your monthly usage and matches it with 100% clean and renewable wind energy using RECs.

Because we are conscious of reducing waste and offering the highest convenience to our customers, you will receive a single monthly electronic bill directly from Green Core Electric, which includes your electricity utility and renewable energy costs. Our system pays your electric utility directly. Autopay is available as an option.

Can I cancel at any time?

Yes, our service is purely optional. You are welcome to cancel service at anytime without fees or hassle, just contact our Customer Service team. Your energy service will simply revert back to your local electric utility company.

Will I have to install any equipment?

Never. Our wind energy in generated by U.S. wind farms. Your electricity will continue to be delivered to your home, apartment or business over your utility company’s existing infrastructure. See also "How does billing work?"

Do I need to own my home, condo or business building?

Clean Energy Basics

What is Renewable Energy?

Renewabele energy is electricity that is generated by sources such as wind and solar. These sources are considered “renewable” because they are not finite or depletable–such as coal and natural gas–and can be used in perpetuity. The other reason renewable energy is so desireable is that it is “clean,” creating almost zero environmental emissions or global climate change due to green house gases.

Why should I use renewable energy?

By switching to renewable wind energy, a person can quickly and easily reduce their carbon footprint and feel good about having done their part to help save our planet from unnecessary pollution. Did you know that by using our service, the average U.S. household can prevent enough CO2 emissions and save enough water to be equivalent to planting 121 trees each year and skipping 4 showers every day?

The environmental gains of people just like you, choosing to switch to clean energy, is already adding up to make a very significant difference. In the U.S., voluntary renewable energy CO2 emissions savings equate to preserving 83 million acres of forest, which is equal to 11% of U.S. forested land.

You also might not know that voluntary renewable energy usage in the U.S. is 28% of all renewable energy usage and 45% more people choosing to switch to renewable energy each year. Together we are making a strong and growing difference for human and environmental health.

What are RECs (Renewable Energy Certificates)?

This informative video explains what Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) are and how they make it simple to power your home with clean energy.

What’s wrong with coal, nuclear and natural gas?

Coal is the most dirty of power sources. Air pollution from coal-fired power plants is linked with severe environmental and public health impacts such as asthma, cancer, heart and lung ailments, neurological problems, acid rain and global warming.

The main environmental concern related to nuclear power is the creation of high- and low-level radioactive waste, which remain radioactive and dangerous to human health for literally thousands of years. The United States currently does not have a permanent disposal facility for high-level nuclear waste, thus passing on this problem on to future generations.

Regarding natural gas, an estimated 1–9% escapes into the atmosphere during collection. As a greenhouse gas, this is equivalent to the yearly emissions from 35–314 typical-sized coal power plants.
